Use Cases
Setting a recruiting budget
HR recruiters look up percentile benchmarks by target city tier and level before posting a role, so the offered range is competitive without overshooting budget.
Preparing to negotiate an offer
Candidates compare an incoming offer against the market median for their industry, city, and level to judge whether it's fair before accepting or countering.
Annual compensation benchmarking
Compensation teams use the 25th/75th percentile spread to check whether internal pay bands for a role have drifted away from market norms during annual reviews.
Cross-city relocation pay discussions
An employee relocating from a Tier-2 to a Tier-1 city switches the city-tier filter to quickly compare pay levels for the same role, informing relocation salary negotiations.
FAQ
Where does the salary data come from? Is it accurate?
Figures are aggregated from public 2024-2025 salary reports and market surveys published by major Chinese recruiting platforms (BOSS Zhipin, Liepin, 51job). They are for reference only — actual pay depends on company size, individual skills, role scarcity, and other factors, so treat the actual offer as authoritative.
What do the 25th/50th/75th percentiles mean?
A percentile shows where a salary falls in the sample distribution. The 25th percentile is the low end (about 25% earn less), the 50th is the median, and the 75th is the high end (about 25% earn more) — useful for gauging relative market positioning.
How is the annual salary calculated? Does it include a year-end bonus?
Annual salary is a simple monthly-salary x 12 estimate. It does not include year-end bonuses, equity, or other compensation components — treat it as a rough base-income reference only.
What if my industry isn't listed?
The tool currently covers 11 mainstream industry categories. If your specific niche isn't listed, pick the closest broad category (e.g. biotech under Healthcare) as an approximation.
Why does a combination return no data?
A query requires industry, city tier, and job level to all be selected. If you see a "no data" message, check that all three fields are filled in correctly.
