How to Use

  1. Mode A: paste a passage you have already typed and enter the seconds it took, then click Calculate.
  2. Mode B: copy the reference passage into any editor, click Start, type it out, then click Stop.
  3. Review your WPM, CPM, skill level and the speed bar.
  4. Compare with the typical WPM table by profession at the bottom.

FAQ

How is WPM calculated?
Each Chinese character counts as one word; English counts one word per 5 characters. Words divided by minutes gives WPM.
Is Mode B accurate?
It assumes the reference passage was typed correctly; typos are not counted, so real accuracy may differ.
What is the difference between WPM and CPM?
CPM is characters per minute (excluding spaces); WPM is words per minute. Both are shown.
Can I change the reference passage in Mode B?
Each time you switch to Mode B, one of three passages is picked at random.
I did not finish the reference passage.
Mode B assumes the full passage was typed. In that case use Mode A with the text you actually typed and the time it took.
